Kickstarter goal and a new Shows page!

So the other day when we launched our new Kickstarter campaign for Riddikulus 2012, something crazy happened. You guys got us to our goal of $1,000 to cover gas expenses in FIVE HOURS. Seriously. Thank you so, so much if you’ve pledged to donate. I love you guys so much and I can’t believe how supportive you’ve all been of this Kickstarter campaign and our tour. Since then, we’ve more than doubled our goal.

There are still a good amount of necessary expenses involved with this tour, and we’re going to keep you guys posted on what those are. Next, we’re hoping to raise enough money to pay for the tour van rental. When we hit $3,000, that will be covered in addition to gas. That means right now, we’re less than $1,000 away! The more we raise with this campaign, the better this tour will be. We’ve discussed all kinds of ideas for how to make the experience of a Riddikulus 2012 show completely unique, nerdy, and awesome… but we can’t afford to do a lot of those things without your help!

If you’re unfamiliar with Kickstarter, you pick a level of donation in exchange for exclusive and rare rewards. These include postcards from us on the road, mixtapes, a song written just for you, a custom Fairweather Friends plushie that you can work with me to design, dinner dates, private acoustic shows, and more. You don’t have to attend the shows to enjoy many of the rewards, so even if you can’t come, have a look and see if you like anything we’re offering!

Yesterday, I reformatted the Shows page on this website to make it easier to see all of the dates (yes, there are THREE St Louis shows on there!). You can hit the little ‘+’ button on the left side of each show date to expand the details. Also, there is now quite a bit of Facebook integration involved! You can hit ‘RSVP’ to let me know if you’re attending (or thinking about attending) the shows nearest you and you can even click on the little speech bubble to the right of each listing to comment on the Facebook events right from my website! Pretty cool. Let me know if this is easier to use or if I can improve the page further. Check it out!

Summer Tour Dates and KICKSTARTER!!

For the past few months, I’ve been working with some friends of mine on details for this upcoming summer’s various tours. I can finally share these details with you! YAY!

June 8, 2012 to June 21, 2012 – RIDDIKULUS 2012: A Rolling Wizard Rock Festival with The Whomping Willows, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Tonks and the Aurors, Snidget, and I Speak Tree. We are raising money for this tour because there are lots of us and it’s going to be expensive. Check out the Kickstarter page whether you’re planning on coming to a show or not because the prizes are AWESOME!

July 9, 2012 to July 21, 2012 – ExpecTour Patronum! with The Whomping Willows and Seen + Unforeseen. I’m super excited to tour with Matt and Eva for July and we’ve got lots of awesome dates!

August 12, 2012 to August 24, 2012 – The Honeymoon Tour with The Whomping Willows. Touring the west coast and more with my husband, Matt! Awww.

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response on Twitter, I’ve started recording videos of myself playing the rest of the songs on The Prince’s Tale. So far, I’ve uploaded two of them to my YouTube channel, devilishlypure, and I’ve got three more in the works to be released over the next few weeks. Here they are!

Today, LeakyNews.com posted the first of their new series of musician profiles and I was the first person to be featured! It’s an interview-style article where I was asked about how I got started, what I’m doing now, and where I’m headed. They also featured the music video for “It’s Real For Us”, which was shot and edited by my friends Amorae Daylett and Matthew Cowling. The article also features my new promo photo! A few days ago, I cut my hair short and my husband Matt helped me to take some updated photos for upcoming tour promotion. These are my two favorites of the photos we took!

3 Winter Shows Added!

Hello everyone! It’s been a little while. I’ve been crafting up a storm at home for the past few months, but am hoping to work on new music soon.

Matt and I just added three shows this winter and I’d love for you to come if you’re nearby! February 11 in Ithaca, NY, March 10 in Manhattan, KS, and March 17 in Alfred, NY! Check out the shows page for more details.

There are a few more in the works for the Spring and THREE big tours coming up this summer, so keep an ear out and make sure you’re on my mailing list!

I’m also working on a new layout for this website with my friend Kyle Barr, so if you see anything weird going on here, that’s probably it. Just a heads up!

Holiday shopping and a new craft blog!

I also started a new craft blog to go along with the store, where I can talk about all things crafty and document my progress with starting a handmade business. Official Music Video for “It’s Real For Us”

While I was on tour this summer, I stopped by to visit my friend Amorae Daylett while I was in Dallas for a show. We’d talked for a while about having her direct and edit a music video for me, so I sent her my favorite song on my newest album, The Prince’s Tale, and she got to work on it. She rearranged her living room, set up a ton of really cool Harry Potter stuff on a shelf in the corner, and called in her friend Matthew Cowling to do the cinematography.

Filming with Amorae and Matt was a blast, and we talked about ideas for the narrative portion of the video. Unfortunately, being on tour didn’t leave me with enough time to be there for the filming of the narrative segments but I wish I could’ve been there to see those. Amorae sent me screenshots every day they worked with the actors, and I got more and more excited to see the finished product the closer it came to being finished.

For me, “It’s Real For Us” has always had a double meaning and I wanted the video to reflect the fandom side of the story. Harry Potter does something extraordinary for the people who really love it… it can comfort a child struggling to keep her sanity in a home with fighting parents. It can bring together teenagers who feel lost in a world of constant change and unite them against bullies. It can even inspire people to make their own world a better place through a real-life Dumbledore’s Army like The Harry Potter Alliance.

Here’s the video, and if you like it or you understand how it feels to have your life so touched by these books, pass it on. This is one of the coolest things I’ve been a part of over the past few years and I’d love for everyone to see it.

Fall Tour Dates Announced!

I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be touring this fall with The Whomping Willows, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and Snidget! We’ve got a bunch of shows announced, with more on the way. There are also some awesome major shows on this tour including the family-friendly retreat in the woods, Wrockstock, and the enormous Quidditch World Cup!

Thursday 11.3.11 | Birmingham, AL (We found a place in Nashville, TN instead for this date!)
