Help with layouts!
May 23rd
Yesterday, I graduated from college and I’m currently getting all ready to finish moving to Rhode Island and preparing to leave for tour in less than two weeks. This is one of the projects I am starting now and hoping to finish when I get home in August.
Recently, I’ve been working on making my various social networking websites a bit more personal. In a fiveawesomegirls video a few weeks back, I asked for suggestions of ideas for an overall design I can make, and a lot of people thought I should do a sky with clouds and a sun to go with my last name (and a dumb childhood nickname one of my teachers gave me, Cumulus). After a few days of work, I came up with this.
I did the YouTube layout first because it only required custom graphics and a simple image map code. I’m a bit clueless when it comes to anything-but-html coding. When I first put together this website, I picked an existing theme I liked and customized it to make it my own with the hope that eventually I’ll be able to figure out how to do my own custom layout with image navigation.
With this new design, I’m hoping to come up with a layout that would look similar on both this website and my new tour tumblr. Do any of you guys have experience with coding for both Wordpress and Tumblr? Ideally, I’d like to learn to do this myself, but it might be easier if someone who knows how to do this could get me started with something basic that matches (with a few differences in how the page is laid out). That way, I can create custom graphics to fit each and go from there, with help as I need it. Would any of you guys be willing to work with me on this?
Summer Tour Dates!
Apr 5th
This summer, I’ll be going a ton of places I’ve never been on tour like the west coast and Canada! From June 4th to June 19th, I’ll be with The Whomping Willows, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and The Nifflers. From June 25th to July 23rd, I’ll be on tour with ALL CAPS, The Whomping Willows, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and The Parselmouths.
You can check out all of the tour dates on the shows page. You should also check out the ROFLCOPTOUR: To Infinitus and Beyond tour website where you can find out more about that tour and follow us on our adventures once we leave! You can also follow @roflcoptour on twitter for updates and such. Make sure you RSVP to the Facebook event if you’re thinking about or planning on coming to the shows, because we’ll be able to contact you directly if there are any changes.
Since a ton of people are asking, shows marked ‘TBA’ are like that for a reason. Chances are, we haven’t found a solid venue for those dates yet. If you’re interested in finding a place near those places for us to play, email Matt at thewhompingwillows@gmail.com to work out the details!
Hope to see you on the road this summer!
New Buttons Added!
Feb 10th
Since the online button sales seem to be going relatively smoothly, I decided to post some more of the shows-only buttons online for purchase! Sales will go the same way, with stronger envelopes this time, but there will be ten new buttons available for you to choose from!
Also, since there is no more room on my button display for shows, I am going to start phasing out a few of the older ones to make room for new designs. The following buttons will not be made any more once my current supply runs out, so if you wanted any of these soon to be retired buttons, put in your orders as soon as you can. I will remove them from the Store page and make announcements as they run out.
To order buttons, click here and read the directions. Let me know how you guys like the new buttons! Thank you, to all of you who have placed orders.
Buttons for sale online!
Jan 28th
I’ve been selling buttons at shows for a few months now, and by popular demand, I’ve just started to sell them online! Some of my homemade buttons are now available online in packs of five, ten, or twenty. They are $1 per button, the same price that I sell them for at live shows, plus a small shipping fee.

To see the rest of the available designs and to place your order, click here or go to the Store page, just under where my CDs are for sale!
Let me know if you have any problems with ordering them or any questions! I will be offering some designs (that are not on the Store page) exclusively at shows, unless a lot of you guys request specific ones that you would like to be added to the online store.
Subscribe by Email!
Jan 14th
Thanks to Feedburner, I just added an option where you guys who don’t get a chance to check this website often can have these updates emailed to you! I’m not exactly sure how it works yet, but if you’re interested, enter your email address in the box on the sidebar to the right under where it says “Subscribe by Email” to try it out!
From what I gather, for every day that I post something on here, you’ll get an email containing every update I posted that day. So even if I put three updates here on one very busy day, you should only get one email containing all three of those. If you’re lazy or forgetful like I am, but want to make sure you keep up with what I’m doing, this is a good way to do that without needing to check here every day. And if it’s annoying, there’s a link in every email to unsubscribe. If you don’t like it, but you still want to be notified when I update the website, follow me on Twitter. I almost always post updates on there!
One thing I noticed is that both the confirmation email that allows you to activate your email address and the first email I got containing yesterday’s posts went to my Spam folder. Make sure that you check there if you think you’re missing an email!
Also, you may have noticed these little green ‘tweet’ and ‘retweet’ buttons on every post. If you like what you’ve read and want to share it on Twitter, just click that and it will automatically put a shortened link to the post along with the title and an @reply to me. It will let you read it before you post it, in case you want to change anything. Pretty cool!
Let me know if you guys like these new features, or if there’s anything else you know of (Wordpress plugins, etc) that you’d like me to add to this website, leave me a comment!
We’re live!
Dec 8th
Well guys, thanks to Richard Grooms who helped me set up this website and Katie Uchimaru who designed the fantastic background and header, you can now find this website at laurenfairweather.com! I’m so excited because it turned out exactly the way I wanted it to and now you’re here! Welcome!
If you have any suggestions for things you’d like to see on here, leave a comment! Be sure to leave a question on the FAQ page and subscribe to the RSS feed by hitting the little bouncing orange button on the right side of the navigation menu so you can receive updates and blog entries when I post them!
P.S. The holiday CD sale is still going on! Check out the store.
Holiday CD Sale! $3 off!
Nov 30th
In honor of the holiday season, I’ve lowered the price of all the hard copies of CDs in my store (that includes both full-length Moaning Myrtles albums and both of my solo albums) from $13 to $10. Check out the store page for more details about all of the CDs and find out where you can buy them, or justĀ click here to go straight to the page where you can order as many of them as you want to give away as presents or keep for yourself. (Since I’m a pro at buying presents for myself near the holiday season. My relatives and friends hate this.) Happy holiday shopping!
P.S. There is no sale for iTunes albums, just the physical CDs. Sorry!
